Leonard George "Len" Koenecke was born January 18, 1904 in Baraboo, Wisconsin, USA and died September 17, 1935 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Bradley R. Weissenberger (.22) was kind enough to draw our attention to Len Koenecke. He thought we might like to write a song about him. He was right.
lyrics
At 27, time to die.
The Most Patient Man in Baseball.
And The Most Patient Man in Baseball knows
When your time arrives:
You step up to the plate;
await your pitch;
and swing.
The New York Giants, the Brooklyn Dodgers
Saw something in him.
But Len Koenecke traded up
For quarts of whiskey and rye.
He played it out—in his outfield.
He wanted out.
But back in Baraboo, Wisconsin
at the Circus World Museum
Len Koenecke knew those wagons weren't for him.
And a railway fireman ain't to proud to take a plane.
Or have his lights put out by what you'd use to kill a fire.
And The Most Patient Man in Baseball knows
When your time arrives:
You step up to the plate;
await your pitch;
and swing.
Wait for it, wait for it... wait for it.
Wait for it, wait for it... wait for it.
Wait for it, wait for it... wait for it.
Wait for it, wait for it... wait for it.
Wait for it, wait for it... wait for it.
Wait for it, wait for it... wait for it.

This is just one of those albums that are in the perfect place at the perfect time. If you described it to me, I probably wouldn't listen to it, so just go listen to it. Seriously. You'll be glad you did. Morgan LaVigne
